Marissa Madruga is an Associate Attorney at the Kirlew Law Firm, where she focuses primarily on family and criminal cases. Before becoming an associate attorney at the Kirlew Law Firm, she clerked for the Firm and assisted Brian and Heidi in handling cases daily from intake to final hearing. This experience has provided her with a well-rounded, hands-on experience.

Marissa graduated from Florida International University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. She went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from St. Thomas University College of Law in Miami, Florida. She interned with the Honorable Laura Stuzin in dependency court and the Honorable William Altfield, assisting with a judicial project based on Florida’s Stand Your Ground law. Before attending law school, Marissa served as a judicial assistant to U.S. Circuit Judge Robert J. Luck during his time on the bench at the Eleventh Judicial Circuit and the Third District Court of Appeal.

Marissa has extensive legal experience. She began her legal career as a legal secretary in the felony division at the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office in Miami-Dade County. She assisted four (4) Assistant Public Defenders in handling 150+ cases, including but not limited to answering phone calls, providing clients with updates, scheduling depositions, and issuing subpoenas.

She then joined Rumberger, Kirk, & Caldwell, where she continued as a legal secretary before becoming a paralegal. She focused primarily on civil litigation and personal, premise, and product liability cases.

Marissa is Panamanian-Cuban. Outside of practicing law, she loves spending time outdoors riding ATVs, boating, jet skiing, and glamping with her husband and three (3) children.
